HRM CHIEF NANA KWEKU EGYIR GYEPI III

Ambassador

H.R.M. Chief Nana Kweku Egyir Gyepi III is from a Fante tribe in Ghana, West Africa called the Oguaa people of Cape Coast, and he speaks over 7 different languages. Born in a town called Tema, he grew up learning agriculture and fishing like the rest of his community. As a young adult, Nana was recruited as a fisherman to work overseas on large vessels that supplied tuna and other seafood to major brands like StarKist and several other companies. Nana soon relocated to the United States, making North

Carolina and New York his home for over 16 years until the day he received a life-changing phone call. In 1987, Nana was suddenly urged to return home to Ghana because his predecessor and uncle, Chief Nana Gyepii II had died.  Bestowed through matrilineal inheritance, Nana Gyepi III was to become the next Senior Divisional Chief of the seaside city, Cape Coast — a traditional duty he'd have to commit to for the rest of his life.

As a Pan-African activist influenced by the likes of W.E.B. DuBois, former Ghana President Nkrumah, and Marcus Garvey, Chief Nana embarked on an international speaking tour to promote cultural tourism exchange and economic trade for his country. He was instrumental in bringing the King of Cape Coast and other royals for a 21 day tour to the U.S. and abroad to connect the continents.

HRM Nana Gyepi III has received numerous certificates of recognition from City Officials, organizations and politicians worldwide including a key to the City in Thailand. A historian of the Transatlantic Slave Trade, he was featured in the Los Angeles Times for encouraging young students in L.A. to get an education while on his U.S. tour. Nana's public speaking engagements have taken him to the USA, Taiwan, Japan, UK, China, Holland, Mexico, Canada, South Africa and various countries throughout the African continent.

Nana Gyepi holds an honorary Doctoral Degree in Theology and is a Board Member of Global Evangelical Christian College and Seminary in the State of Alabama.
